Our holiday rental home is nestled in the hills amongst the olive groves in a lovely Spanish village.

From our south facing terrace there are views over the roof tops of the rolling hills planted with olive trees, with the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the distance to the South East.

The village itself is typically Spanish with a Tapas Bar, two other bars. There are two shops for all provisions, as well as a mobile baker and fishmonger who visit regularly. There is also a bank, pharmacy and Church. Village life goes on here . . .





The larger town of Rute is about 15 km away, and is well worth exploring. Market day in this town is on Saturday.

The picturesque traditional white walled, red roofed town of Iznajar is also nearby (9 km); it is built on a very steep hill over-looking a magnificent lake which is over 32 km long :



the town has a ruined Muslim castle dating from the 8th century, and a 16th century Church.
The town is full of narrow streets, with useful shops.

From the highest point of the town there are spectacular views in every direction, as the town sits on a peninsula jutting out into the lake.

has beaches (- sorry these photos were taken in February - it was warm then -but in summer they are wonderful!)

In prime position is a smart hotel (cortijo) with Tapas Bar, Restaurant, Swimming pool, and Internet Facility.

The lake is host to a myriad of water activities, such as swimming, sailing, wind surfing, fishing and pedaloes - in fact almost anything that is non-motorised (because the lake is a reservoir)

Our village is a rural and working community,


including an olive refinery. It is peaceful and typically Spanish, as well as being charmingly picturesque.


It is an excellent base for absorbing the culture to be found in the large cities of Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla, as well as visiting places such as Ronda, Priego and the south coast - Costa del Sol resorts. You can go skiing in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in winter.


It's a holiday that suits all sorts of people


and perhaps more for those who prefer walking and birdwatching to the dubious joys of the fast life - sheer escapism! This is truly an all the year round holiday for winter sun and summer fun!

It is an ideal spot for holidaying - but if you are an artist of any description or a writer it would make a wonderful retreat; or alternatively for reading, or merely contemplation!


The village people are very friendly, curious and generous - and delighted to hear any attempts at speaking Spanish (what ever level you may be at from 0% to 100% fluent!!) It is a safe place for children as the roads are quiet (and ours is a cul de sac). There are many children who live in the village who are keen to make friends!

The climate is warm in Spring and Autumn, hot and dry in Summer, and not often cold in the winter - but may be occasionally.

At present our house sleeps 6 people, in one double bedded room, and two twin bedded rooms. There is also a comfortable lounge, well equipped kitchen, and bathroom - all of which lead off the large dining room.

On the same floor there is also a small south facing terrace and a utility room with automatic washing machine, and sink with built-in scrubbing board! (Typical Spanish feature)

The upstairs of the house is as yet unfinished, but as visitors you are welcome to use it. You would probably like to use the upstairs terrace, where we have a patio table and chairs, and you can sit, eat, drink and enjoy the lovely views. (We love it!)

Cars may be parked outside the house, or outside the garage on the opposite side of the road.

Future plans for upstairs are to have a luxury lounge (with views), tiled terrace with sun trap, BBQ and plunge pool - as well as use of the north facing balcony (cooler!)

We hope you love our Spanish home, the village and the whole area as much as we do.
